HOME LEARNING

Weekly Home Learning Tasks

We have been working hard to ensure that home learning is useful, consolidates learning and is easy to manage. The platforms we have carefully selected will allow parents, carers and teachers to monitor progress and check understanding.

Reading - Daily reading is expected. Reading really is a key focus at school and as much reading as possible outside of school will always be encouraged. We now have 'online' reading records so that records are easily updated.  Phonics practise for those not quite ready for reading is also super important.

Purple Mash - To Do's - these tasks are set in order to consolidate learning or prepare for an upcoming topic. You are not required to print out work (unless requested - which will be very rare, if ever!) The learning is recorded and the teacher will be able to see an overview of completed tasks and outcomes. There are also games to support with the rehearsal of skills which will not need to be 'handed in' as such.

Spellings - spellings will be set.  We would always recommend children practise their spellings by writing them. Paper from school should be provided to achieve this. Any issues, please do talk to your class teacher.

RWI - Phonics videos to view may be sent home.

TT Rockstars / Numbots - these are places for our children to practise number skills.  We compete with other school on this one, so its brilliant if our children have a chance to complete activities at home.

Home learning should be fairly swift and useful . It helps the children to consolidate their learning and be prepared for next steps.  If ever you are all 'stuck' on any homework set, please just put it away and have a chat to the class teacher in the morning or send in a message via the school office.  Home learning won't be super easy but it shouldn't be completely unfamiliar.

Have fun!

COVID 19 UPDATE  In line with the most recent Government guidance children are only expected to be away from school if they are unwell. In response to this, timetables will no longer be updated.  Please do look at the curriculum page if you would like to find out about the children's latest learning. Please use the link below.
