Sports Funding

Government Primary School Sports Funding

At St John’s we have long held PE and sport in high regard and pride ourselves in the provision we make for our children here. We have offered a wide range of sporting opportunities within lessons, after school and through specific events. The funding will enable us to develop our already high standards in PE and sport and offer even more wonderful opportunities for our children.

The Association for Physical Education suggests that possible uses for the funding include:

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE
  • New or additional Change4Life sport clubs
  • Paying for professional development opportunities in PE/Sport
  • Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE/Sport
  • Running sport competitions, or increasing participation in the school games
  • Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE/Sport
  • Providing places for pupils on after school sport clubs and holiday clubs
