At St John’s, the children learn Jolly Phonics actions to help them remember each sound. Each action helps as a memory hook for the children whilst also providing a kinaesthetic learning opportunity alongside the visual and auditory styles incorporated into our Phonics teaching.

This clip shows Miss Blythe saying each sound at the same time as carrying out the matching Jolly Phonics action.

The second clip shows Miss Blythe saying each sound without an action as the way each sound is produced is very important. You can look closely at the position of the mouth, lips and tongue for each of the different sounds.
