Griffins Year 2

Welcome to Griffin Class 2018-19

We are all excited to be back at school this term, thinking about the year ahead together in Year 2 and looking forward to many great adventures! We are lucky to be supported in our class by Mrs Clarke and Mrs Wild.

Our topic this Autumn term is British Values.  We will use Talk for Writing actions to learn different conjunctions and help learn The Gingerbread Man orally. We will extend our grammar skills and apply what we learn from undertaking drama activities.

Griffin Class has PE on Monday and Fridays.  Please remember no jewellery or ear rings can be worn for PE.

How to help at home

Two pieces of homework will be given to the children on a Friday.  These will usually be linked to our learning in Literacy and Numeracy during the week or to our Creative Curriculum topic.  Unless otherwise specified, the children will be expected to hand it in on the following Wednesday.

We would like the children to read a variety of texts as often as possible during the week. It is important to ask the children questions about the book and pictures within the story, as well as just hearing them read. Please record their reading in their Reading Record. Also, we would encourage children to supplement their school reading books with those chosen from local libraries or home collections
